Navajo Nation Vetoes Gay Marriage Ban

In a true about face, the head of the Navajo Nation has vetoed a ban on gay marriage put before him. President Joe Shirley Jr. said, “Same-sex marriage is a non-issue on Navajo land,” he said. “So why waste time and resources on it? We have more important issues to address.”

Well said, Joe. The Navajo Nation has many more pressing issues around it, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, health and well being, poverty, and gang membership. These need to be dealt with first.
