In a move that has upset many folks, Democrats, gays and lesbians and people with HIV, to name a few, George Bush has appointed an “abstinence only” person to be his new Domestic Policy Advisor. The appointed, Claude Allen, has called on abstinence to be the pillar of the Nation’s HIV policy during a 2003 HIV prevention conference in Atlanta.
He was even criticized because, as an assistant to former rabid Senator Jesse Helms, Allen used the term “queer” derogatarily. Bush tried to appoint this radical to a judgeship post twice, but was twice rebuffed by Senate Democrats.
Gone are the brochures and talk about condoms. Welcome to the 1800s.
