NOBODY GETS MARRIED!
Benton County, Oregon was to be the second County in Oregon to provide marriage licenses to same-sex couples. However, due to lawsuits and threats, they’ve put that plan on hold. In doing so, they said that NOBODY, heterosexual nor homosexual couples, will marry in Benton County (click for story). What a stand! These people are making this an issue for EVERYBODY, not just gay couples. Kudos to you, the County of Benton!
Way down in the story is a quote from a right wing nutjob saying that he’s glad Benton isn’t issuing “illegal” licenses. If he had any sense at all, he’d know that there is no law in Oregon that prohibits gay marriage.
Besides just being right in not discriminating, gay weddings have been good for local economies! (click for story). Stopping discrimination AND allowing capitalism to thrive. Isn’t that just?
