Don’t get me wrong; I support our troops. I support them so much that I want to bring them home now instead of having them die for an unjust war. But there is one person in our armed forces that I do NOT support, and her name is Sgt. Marcia Ramode.

Recently, a New Jersey resident named Corey Andrew posted his resume to Careerbuilder.com. He was contacted by Sgt. Ramode and asked if he were interested in a job in the miliary. When Andrew responded that no, he wasn’t, because of the military’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy, , Sgt. Ramode sent him three days worth of tirades from her military email account expressing her views on his perceived sexuality and his African American roots. She truly showed how ugly and mean spirited biggots can be.

So while you say you support our troops, and you have that yellow ribbon on your car, why not also think about minorities in the United States. Try supporting them, too. Work to stomp out hate speech, and bring equality to everyone. This type of treatment is a lot more prevalent than non-minorities think.

  1. No doubt Sergeant Ramode was severely out of line. However, I’m puzzled as to why Corey Andrew Powell’s reference to “pedophilic predators” “begging” teenagers to join the military gets a complete pass. I see the implications about the sergeant as being what provoked the over-the-top exchange — not the all capitals second email sent by Ramode.

I’ve seen at least one post that suggests Sergeant Ramode is psychotic. Do recruiters have access to loaded weapons? If they do, I’m not sure Powell was being the sharpest tool in the shed if he set out to embarrass the recruiter by revealing their email exchange.
