It’s disgusting to see how right wing and corrupt the mainstream press has become. The first paragraph of a highly partisan story at the Washington Times is written to put Democrats on the defensive. It says:

A group of House Democrats hope to disrupt an effort Thursday for Congress to officially tally the Nov. 2 presidential election results.

How is upholding democracy DISRUPTIVE?

House Dems to challenge Ohio electoral vote

Washington, DC, Jan. 4 (UPI) — A group of House Democrats hope to disrupt an effort Thursday for Congress to officially tally the Nov. 2 presidential election results.

The long-shot move to prevent the counting of Ohio’s votes in the constitutionally mandated congressional election count is being spearheaded by Democratic Rep. John Conyers of Michigan.

Conyers has sent a letter to senators seeking support for objecting to the counting of Ohio’s 20 votes, which proved integral to Republican President George Bush’s victory over Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

The support of at least one senator would be needed to ensure the move could be made, but this is considered unlikely.

The move is considered more of an effort to shine the spotlight on Election Day problems.

Bush won the 2004 election by 286 to 252 electoral votes, but some voters in Ohio complained about a shortage of voting machines in predominately minority voting precincts that lead to long waits as well as accusations of computer problems and voter fraud.

A group of black House Democrats unsuccessfully challenged the 2001 election results by questioning Florida’s electoral votes, but found no support in the Senate.
